real surprised there wasn't a thread on this already.

just got back from seeing it.

I enjoyed it but didn't LOVE it like everyone else. yes it was very confusing at times but I did kinda understand it. what I enjoyed most was the stunning visuals but in my book, visuals don't make the best movie ever which this is not. the story was very interesting and unique, even though it was similar to The Matrix it still was interesting and made you think. I liked the cast, especially Joseph but wish Michael Caine wasn't in it (Prestige, Batman 1&2 and this, enough) but at least his role was small. I knew this would be way overhyped liked all of Nolan's other movies and thought I wouldn't like it but came out satisfied.... but also confused. won't see it again at the cinema, will watch again on DVD. In order of Nolan's films I like in order - 1. Prestige, 2. Dark Knight, 3. Inception, 4. Batman Begins, 5. Memento and 6. Insomnia which put me to sleep  Wink I also much prefer this to that POS called Avatar!!

when the lights came on, I overheard a girl say "My Brain's Exhausted"  Cheesy

3.5 / 5

anyone see it?

The bloke on Triple J called it the smartest Hollywood Blockbuster in a long time (not that his opinion is worth much at all) though there are lots of unexplained occurences and minimal development of the supporting characters apparently. I'm still keen to give it a watch (work and study permitting)

Yeah, that might explain all the rave reviews also mentioning that it requires more than one sitting. It's about dream states and since when did they ever make sense? And supporting characters generally don't need quite as much development as central ones either, at least not without risking an interminably long film. I mean, one can nitpick anything really. When it comes to the work of successful movie makers like Nolan, Tarantino, etc, I sometimes get the feeling that certain types of folk just want these talented people to fall on their arses after they've given us so much wonderful entertainment previously. I'll never understand that. Anyway, I'm rambling. Nolan's no fool and is one the best film makers around today in my view.

I had a discussion with my friend recently about dreams. Every single night I have very vivid and surreal dreams whereas he told me he doesn't dream or doesn't remember them when he wakes up. I found this to be strange. My dreams are very vivid and some actually happen soon after in my real life. I recently had a dream I found $500 and the next day my cousin asked me to go to Crown casino and I said I didn't want to. He coaxed me to go and I ended up winning $550! These things happen all the time. I told my cousin I dreamt he had lung cancer (he is a heavy smoker) and now he is scared.

Is your friend a heavy drinker/bong fiend?

That can suppress dream activity

Fark... If I dreamt about anyone I know having something like that happen to them, I'd never tell them. I've had the odd dream about someone close to me having something terrible happen to them, but they say dreams can often mean the opposite in that respect, meaning you care for that person very much and would never wish to see such a thing occur.

Never suppress' mine . Heh heh...   Wink

I saw this last night, and I liked it more than you seemed to Maniac. I won't go into specifics (this is a film best viewed fresh) and I don't want to add to any unfulfillable expectations, but I will say this is worth your time.

It's kind of almost a miracle actually that a script of some complexity was green lit with the kind of budget it received. We’re not talking Donnie Darko or Primer complexity or anything, most people will understand this movie just fine, but in relation to your average action blockbuster- wows.

It's really great (and rare) to see something that's just as strong in terms of concept and idea's as it is in scale and effects. So hats off to all involved; absolutely fine entertainment all the way. I’ll sure as hell be grabbing this on Blu-ray. This is a definite re-watcher.

And how was there no thread for this? WTF?  Shocked

No. I do drink a lot of wine which IO thought may be the reason for my vivid dreams but you say that alcohol suppresses dreams so that's strange.

I dream like crazy most nights, very vivid ones that are like real life. Rarely I will be in a dream and realise it is one somehow, so then I can do what I want. Lets just say no females around are safe when that happens  Cool That's called Lucid Dreaming, some say you can learn how to do it and make it happen often. It would be like having a holodeck from Star Trek in your dreams.

I hate when deep emotional feelings are felt within some dreams and they stay with your for hours after you wake, happens to me from time to time. Even though you realise it was just a dream the awful feeling with stay attached to me no matter what I do or think. And lastly I had an awful one about a year ago where in the dream a friend called me and said he needed my help urgently with something. So I headed to his place and realised he needed me to help him dispose of a body, a man who had died somehow, that I wasn't told about. So anyways I helped him carry the body away and dispose of it not asking any questions. The next thing I knew time was passing by, days and weeks at a time, and the guilt complex in me was growing to hideous levels and I felt like I was going to explode if I didn't tell others about it. When I woke I felt god damn awful for hours and hours as if it was real. It felt like I had helped dispose of a murder victim and hide it from everyone including the authorities. So now whenever I see a character in a film or tv show in the same situation as I was in the dream, that hideous guilt feeling sweeps back over me and I live it out all over again but in real life. Amazing how a single dream can attach itself to you like that and affect you for years to come in real life.

As far as the film goes, it looks kinda interesting, may see it one day on dvd or something.

It's more that one doesn't remember them often as a result of booze, as opposed to them actually being completely suppressed. They say if you don't dream, you die. They say... But I think if you were pissed outta your brain every day, you certainly wouldn't remember dreaming very often.

Most of my dreams actually seem real, no matter how crazy they are. However, occasionally I am conscious I am dreaming and it is great. I remember one dream, I was so horny that I was at this person's house and people were walking through the kitchen where I was and I just pulled my dick out and then intimated to the girl next to me to suck it and she did! I then proceeded to lift her skirt up and she was wearing no panties and I lick her pussy, right in front of everyone.! I didn;t care because I knew it was a dream. Didn't last long though, LOL!  Grin

Yeah, I get those a lot. I dream of my ex-girlfriend and it is just unbearable when I wake up. I miss her.

Oh, I hate those dreams. I actually feel a bit down for the rest of the day after waking from one of those.

Meanwhile, back in the Batcave...
