No month is complete without a thread about the latest Asylum production, so let us gaze upon the teaser trailer for their latest production Princess of Mars!

Antonio Sabato, Jr. will presumably be topless for the entire movie as the beefcake male lead and everyone's favourite pornstar turned failed mainstream actress Traci Lords provides the eye candy in this sci-fi adventure tale about a US soldier transported to a distant planet in the midst of a war between two alien races.

As the trailer goes to great lengths to point out, the movie is based on the novel by Tarzan creator Edgar Rice Burroughs which was also the inspiration for James Cameron's Avatar. Apparently

I'm digging the mix of styles in that trailer. Looks like a Conan wannabe with spaceships and aliens and hot half naked chicks!

Inspiration for James Cameron's Avatar - I'M THERE!!!

I would actually like the Asylum to bring out a DVD of all their trailers, all their trailers give hope but the actual films let you down....such a shame.

I love the sense of optimism which with The Asylum push their wares. And the sense of enthusiasm they can engender in a pretty jaded mob like us! I take Asylum films with the same pinch of salt that I take any of the Poverty Row shockers of the 1940s and 50s - enjoyable silly fun. Long may they reign!

And yeah, that trailer looks like a hoot - it certainly paid attention to the Edgar Rice Burroughs' vibe of the original text.

John Carter was so creatively vast it needs a huge budget to be done appropriately.... hopefully, at least, Carter will be from the wild west and not an astronaut or something stupid like that....

This isn't to be confused with the big budget film of John Carter's adventures, but I have grave forebodings over that after reading about it on Wikipedia.

"Jim Morris, general manager of Pixar, said the film will have a unique look separate from Frank Frazetta's illustrations, which they found dated." - Stupid c**t.

Perfect comparison!
