| Australia's genre history is not immune to the remake treatment. Long Weekend has already been given a second life and now Mark Hartley, the man behind Not Quite Hollywood and Machete Maidens Unleashed! is preparing to re-imagine Patrick, Richard Franklin's late-70s chiller about a comatose patient who kills using the power of his own mind!
"In room 15 of the secluded Roget Clinic lies a comatose murderer named Patrick. His doctor says he's nothing more than 75 kilos of limp meat hanging off a dead brain – but Kathy, a young nurse, knows very differently. Patrick has a crush on Kathy, and burgeoning psychic powers. His affection is about to turn into a deadly, bloody obsession!"
The cameras are set to roll in November with Rachel Griffiths, Sharni Vinson and Charles Dance filling the major roles, and according to the newest teaser poster unveiled today an October 2013 release date has already been pencilled in for Australian audiences.
