Wolf Creek 2 in Cinemas Early Next Year

Mick Taylor is ready for seconds, but has the outback killer mellowed in the years since 2005's Wolf Creek?

Just announced at Oz Comic-Con (and passed on to the rest of the world by writer/director Greg Mclean via Twitter) – the long awaited sequel, Wolf Creek 2, will be released in Australian and New Zealand cinemas on February 20, 2014 through Village Roadshow Pictures.

February 20? 2014? That's still over seven and a half months away, and with local distributors prone to changing or unceremoniously cancelling theatrical releases at the drop of a hat we'll only be pencilling that date lightly into our calendar for now, but it's worth remembering that the original Wolf Creek was a #1 hit at the Australian box office that to this day sits among the highest grossing R18+ movies of all time, so Roadshow will hopefully put their full weight behind Wolf Creek 2's release as the date draws closer.

In Wolf Creek 2 John Jarratt returns as the sadistic Mick Taylor, who sets his sights on a trio of backpackers who have wandered off the main tourist route and into his hunting ground. After an attack in the middle of night, the bushman pursues his prey across a hostile wasteland that will push his victims to the brink of madness.

Along with Jarret, the film will also feature Ryan Corr, Shannon Ashlyn and Philipe Klaus (presumably as Mick's unfortunate prey).

Will Wolf Creek 2 end up receiving the same treatment as the movie its poster art so cheekily emulates? Let's hope not!
