Accent Announces 'Accent Underground'

Local independent distributor Accent Film Entertainment has announced the launch of their new label, Accent Underground. In conjunction with the Melbourne Underground Film Festival (MUFF), Accent Underground will release "truly independent films by talented filmmakers whose ingenuity and creativity far exceeds the budgets at their disposal" with a strong focus on discovering, nurturing and showcasing independent Australian films and filmmakers. The Aussie film industry has been grossly ignored by local distributors in the past, so this is great news!

Accent Underground will be launched at MUFF 8 in September, with the first three titles due to be released on DVD in November. The debut line-up will feature the early 70's US underground flick Punishment Park, Perth Filmmaker Zak Hilditch's "black comedy with definite cult potential" The Actress, and Stuart Simpson's Demons Among Us (Trailer), which readers of these pages should be well aware of by now. Expect many more titles to be announced in the coming months.

In the past few years has released films like High Tension, Irreversible, Lost Things, Dumplings, and Sheitan.
